Principal/Mission

Kathy Keith

Welcome to Westwood View Elementary, Home of the Pythons! You have chosen one of the best elementary schools in all of Shawnee Mission. The original school of Westwood, was located about a block west of Rainbow on 48th Street and was built in 1914. We have pictures of the old Hudson School hanging in our hallway showing the structure. In 1927, Hudson was replaced by a school on the current school grounds and was renamed Westwood View.

Our mission is to provide each student a diverse education in a safe supportive environment that promotes self-discipline, motivation and excellence in learning. Our ongoing emphasis for our school is to provide all students with real world learning opportunities by utilizing the integration of technology to its fullest potential. With 1:1 iPads, Webex, and Canvas, students are able to expand their learning, organize ideas and writing, research and practice skills, and be creative learners.

If you asked parents, teachers or students to describe Westwood View, you would undoubtedly hear that it is a community centered, family-oriented school in which both academics and personal growth are emphasized.

It is a privilege to serve the students at Westwood View Elementary. I believe I have the best job in the world, and I am truly grateful for the support of all of the parents, teachers, and community members that make Westwood View Elementary such a positive learning experience for all of our students.
